IL&FS Investment Managers Limited (IIML), is a subsidiary of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), which is one of the oldest and largest private equity fund managers in India. IIML has raised and managed over USD 3.5 billion. It has been an early and in many instances, the first investor across various sectors such as Telecom, City Gas Distribution, Shipyards, Retail, and Media. Funds managed by IIML now span across sectors like Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure.


TYPE OF INVESTMENT

They primarily target small and middle-market Indian companies that are technology enabled and innovation oriented. Besides, they look for companies which have a favourable competitive position with attractive growth prospects and have a strong social footprint.


FUND MANAGEMENT

IIML has created Tara India Fund IV is a Rs 3.5 bn fund registered as a Venture Capital Fund ("VCF") under the SEBI (Venture Capital Funds) Regulations, 1996. This is a vintage fund with large European sovereigns and Indian financial institutions as investors.

WHAT THEY LOOK FOR ?

IILM looks for small and Medium size companies with innovative ideas in the sectors like Healthcare, Education, Food & Agri, ICT, Financial Inclusion, Logistics, Alternative Energy. They have created a new fund known as Tara India Fund IV, which has currently committed about 60 per cent of its capital in 10 investments across Healthcare, Food & Agri, ICT, Education and Logistics.
